3 Days in Pokhara, Nepal: A Memorable Travel Experience

I love travelling, and everyone around me knows about my passion for exploring new places. Last year, my friends and I wanted to visit somewhere extraordinary. We shared many ideas before choosing Nepal for a three-day trip.

We did not have many holidays available. So, we decided to keep the trip short and simple. We booked flights from Delhi to Pokhara International Airport. Since we could not find a direct flight, we planned a journey with a layover.

Pokhara offers something for every traveller. Adventure lovers can use the city as a starting point for trips into the Annapurna Mountains. Others can simply relax beside the lake and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

We also found plenty of activities to enjoy during our short stay. So, we planned our days carefully and started our journey to Nepal.

How to reach Pokhara Nepal?

Pokhara Nepal journey

We travelled from Delhi to Pokhara International Airport by air. Our flight included a layover because we could not find a direct option.

After reaching Pokhara, we headed to our hotel. We had already booked our accommodation through an OTA platform. This made the check-in process quick and easy.

Once we settled in, we had lunch and discussed our plans. We wanted to make the most of our three days in Pokhara.

Day 1: Exploring Peace and Adventure

Nepal Tourism

We reached Pokhara around the afternoon. After checking into our hotel, we had lunch. We then discussed which attraction we should visit first.

Since it was already late afternoon, we chose the White Shanti Stupa, also known as the Peace Pagoda. The stupa stands above the lake and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area.

Sunset creates a wonderful atmosphere here. Visitors can enjoy views of Phewa Lake and the nearby mountains. We first travelled towards the stupa and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings.

Boat Ride and Forest Hike

Nepal Trip

Later, we took a boat across the lake. We then hiked through the forest towards the stupa. The activity gave us plenty of opportunities to have fun together.

We also took many photographs along the way. Everyone enjoyed capturing memories from our first day in Pokhara.

Trying Paragliding

We wanted to add some adventure to our day. So, we decided to try paragliding. Most of my friends joined me for the activity.

One friend could not participate because he received an urgent call from home. The rest of us continued with our plans and enjoyed the experience.

Dinner at Zen Garden Restaurant

After our activities, we explored the local food scene. We visited the nearby Zen Garden Restaurant for dinner.

We ordered several dishes, including vegetable momos and vegetable noodles. The meal gave us a perfect way to end our busy first day.

After dinner, we returned to our hotel. We discussed our plans for the following day before going to sleep.

Day 2: Sarangkot and Tashi Ling

Sarangkot Nepal

We woke up early on our second day. We had many places to visit, so we started our journey around 5 AM.

Our first destination was Sarangkot. The location sits around 1,600 metres above sea level. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Sarangkot from Pokhara.

Davis Falls Nepal

Sunrise at Sarangkot

Sarangkot offers impressive views of the Annapurna Range, Pokhara, and Phewa Lake. The area also attracts visitors for its sunrise views.

We started the climb while it was still dark. Our goal was to reach the summit before sunrise.

As the sun appeared, warm light spread across the Himalayan peaks. The snow-covered mountains created a beautiful morning view. We explored Sarangkot and nearby areas during our visit.

Visiting Tashi Ling

Pokhara also has several Tibetan refugee settlements. We decided to visit Tashi Ling, which lies close to Davis Falls.

The settlement offers handicrafts and traditional Tibetan products. Visitors can also see Tibetan carpet-making activities in the factory and showroom.

We spent some time shopping and exploring the area. Later, we stopped at a nearby restaurant and cafe for lunch and snacks.

The food surprised us with its quality and taste. We enjoyed the meal before continuing our day.

Dinner at the Hotel

After a long day of sightseeing, we returned to our hotel. We felt tired after exploring several places.

For dinner, we asked the hotel to arrange a meal from its in-house restaurant. The food was satisfactory, but our tiredness made us focus more on resting.

We ended the second day early and prepared for our final day in Pokhara.

Day 3: Bungee Jumping and Ziplining

thrilling zipline Nepal

Our third day focused on adventure. We had explored several attractions already, but we still wanted to try something thrilling.

We decided to visit HighGround Bungee. The location sits about 20 minutes from Pokhara Lakeside.

HighGround Bungee Adventure

HighGround Bungee offers views of the Himalayas, hills, and rivers. The bungee jump reaches around 70 metres and includes a five-second free fall.

The experience brought plenty of excitement and adrenaline. Having close friends around us made the adventure even more enjoyable.

We encouraged each other before taking part in the activity. The shared experience became one of the highlights of our trip.

Trying the Zipline

We did not want to stop after the bungee jump. Next, we decided to try the thrilling zipline.

The staff explained the safety procedures before the activity. They also checked the equipment carefully.

We felt excited as we prepared for the ride. The experience gave us another memorable adventure.

The entire day became the most exciting part of our trip. None of us expected our short Nepal holiday to create so many unforgettable memories.

Back to the Hotel

After finishing our activities, we returned to the hotel. We had our final meal and started packing our belongings.

Unfortunately, our three-day trip had come to an end. We needed to leave for the airport and catch our flight back to Delhi.

We reached Delhi later that evening. Although the trip was short, we returned with plenty of photographs, stories, and memories.

Final Thoughts on Pokhara, Nepal

Our three-day trip to Pokhara became an unforgettable travel experience. The city gave us a mix of nature, culture, relaxation, and adventure.

We explored the Peace Pagoda, Sarangkot, and Tashi Ling. We also enjoyed paragliding, bungee jumping, and ziplining.

Pokhara left a lasting impression on all of us. I still think about our trip and the wonderful moments we shared.

If I get another opportunity, I would happily return to Pokhara with the same group of friends. A short trip can still create memories that last for years.
